In May, Spanish police seized 36,500 fake sports kits for European football clubs and the EURO2024 championships. Probably just the tip of the iceberg. Still, it was 11 tons of it. To a value of over 6 million EUR (together with some fake "luxury watches", leather goods, and electronics. All in containers originating from China.
It all started in April when Spanish police seized two tonnes of counterfeit jerseys for Spanish football clubs were seized. During that investigation, police realised that more was due to be delivered. They set up a sting operation involving more than 20 agents.
The jerseys were destined for sales online and by street vendors in Spain, in the build-up to the Champions League final and the Men's EURO2024 championship.
Let's hope that your EURO2024 jersey is genuine.
And your ticket too, if you have one.
